Partymen want cremation on Congress grounds
By Radha Venkatesan
CHENNAI, AUG. 30. The TMC men want their party leader, Mr. G.K.
Moopanar, cremated on the Congress grounds at Teynampet and a
memorial erected there. The party has sought the permission of
the family of the departed leader and the State Government to
cremate Moopanar's mortal remains on the Congress grounds, the
TMC spokesman, Mr. B. Gnanadesikan, told The Hindu. ``As the
Congress grounds belongs to the TNCC' Trust, of which Mr.
Moopanar was a trustee, the Government is likely to grant
permission,'' Mr.Gnanadesikan said.
In the evening, the Chennai Police Commissioner, Mr. K.
Muthukaruppan, inspected the site on the Congress grounds.
