AIIMS notices to striking staff
NEW DELHI, AUG. 27. The AIIMS today issued notices to all
striking employees, including resident doctors, to join duty
immediately in the wake of the Delhi High Court direction to
resolve the strike in the hospital within 36 hours.
The court today gave the green signal to the authorities to
invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act to ensure that the
strike came to an end.
The doctors had gone on strike on August 22 following manhandling
of one of their colleagues by some employees. The non-medical
staff resorted to strike to protest against the suspension of its
four leaders and termination of 18 temporary workers.
