Lacking in sagacity

Sir, - Your snubbing reply to the Chief Minister for her rejoinder to the Editorial would be a rude shock to her. If the Editorial is deemed by her as mileage gained by the DMK, her rejoinder and the reply to it are further gains for the DMK. The purpose of her rejoinder is defeated. It was an indirect briefing to the commission set up by her.

Her hasty actions and deliberations do reveal her lacking political sagacity to deal with her opponents and to carry on the administration of the State in the interest and to the benefit of the people at large rather than wreaking vengeance on her arch rivals.

Sir, - Ms. Jayalalithaa has not addressed various points. Why had she not mentioned that police did not foresee the dangers in the sensitive area of Ayodhya Kuppam before hand? When police could manage the procession better in other areas how did it fail to anticipate that the processionists could create problems near the police headquarters area?

If police were sure of their better management of a crisis of this size, why did they not act better in the full view of the press and prove their innocence? If police could not distinguish between processionists and press personnel holding cameras and other gadgets, it is time they went for a refresher course.

C.S. Baskar,

Chennai
