Mukesh Kumar's team triumphs

COIMBATORE, AUG. 15. Mukesh Kumar and his team, with 114 points, won the Cotton City Pro-Am event - a part of the second leg of the Hero Honda Golf tour - held at the Coimbatore Golf Club on Wednesday.

Pune's D.S. Raghuvanshi (Mukesh's elder brother) and his team finished runner-up with a tally of 116 points, while Chandigarh's Ranjit Singh and his team emerged third with a tally of 120 points.

Mukesh's effort of three under-69 overshadowed that of Asian Tour regulars. He also receieved the best individual Pro score prize. Mukesh received adequate support from N. Leelakrishnan, N.M. Sundararajan, S.K. Senthil Kumar. Raghuvanshi's team included Kandhavadivellu, Siddharth Srinivasan, K. Rajiv. Ranjith's team consisted of Ram Mohan, M. Rayappan, and S. Shyam Sunder.

In the additional prizes category, V. Ramakrishna finished Best Nett runner-up with 36 points, while the best Nett Winner went to Siddarth Srinivasan with 39 points.

Mukesh as the professional in the winning team received Rs. 5,000 while Raghuvanshi and Ranjith receieved Rs. 3,000 and 2,000 respectively.

The Asian PGA Tour regulars such as Uttam Singh Mundy, Amritinder Singh, Vivek Bhandari, Digvijay Singh, Harmeet Kahlon are considered favourites to win the Rs. 8.5 lakh Cotton City Open beginning on Thursday.

The other players who took part in the Pro-am event: Vijay Kumar, Rahul Ganapathy, Feroz Ali, Rohtas Singh, Ali Sher, Yusuf Ali, Shiv Prakash, Basad Ali and Rafiq Ali.
