'Give up move to acquire land for sub-station'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 15. The Kazhakuttom MLA, Mr. M.A. Vahid,
has demanded that the Government give up the move to acquire 66
acres of paddy fields in Pallipuram to construct a sub-station.
Inaugurating a dharna organised by the action council before the
Special Tahsildar (Land Acquisition) Office against the
acquisition move on Tuesday, Mr. Vahid said when suitable land
for the purpose was available, the acquisition move could not be
justified. Mr. Vahid said that the locals would not allow the
Government to acquire the fields.
The Andoorkonam panchayat president, Mr. C. Krishnan, the
standing committee chairman, Mr. B. Muralidharan Nair, the
Sarvodayam mandalam secretary, Mr. Murukumpuzha Rajendran, the
action council president, Sharaffudin Moulavi, the secretary, Mr.
A. Gopinathan Nair, and the convener, Mr. Muhammed Haneefa, were
among those who addressed the dharna.
