Showcasing choice wear

AFTER TREKKING, white water rafting, camping, radio and video jockeying and now promoting clothes in Chennai. The student of architecture from BMS College, Bangalore has his hands busy these days. Nikhil Chinapa, the guy with the vertical moustache you probably caught on MTV Select was in town once again, promoting MTV merchandise again, a few days ago.

Who better to do that though? Wouldn't you think the guy who wears a ring on every finger and thumb is ideal to push `ishtyle' gear? Apparently that occurred to the channel people as well and so he was in good 'ol Madras.

Well, this time, it was the MTV Style Spring-Summer Collection 2001, showcasing those clothes that are leisure wear and yet eminently wearable, according to the guys selling the stuff. MTV Style Spring - Summer Collection 2001 emphasises on leisure wear, maintaining the fine line between `fad' and `wearability'.

This collection has different ranges for men, women AND those who like to dress `unisex'. If we need to get more specific, there is `Street Fashion' to be street smart, `High Impact' and `Celestial Vacuum' for women. Men can choose from two categories `Extreme Sport' or `Renegade' - targeting the funky and spirited, classy and casual.

Okay, here goes for the Unisex dressers: there is `Fundamentals' - that comprises of basic tees and subtle prints or `Clubwear' that ranges from Toga tops, halter dresses, lycra tees and more in the usual `bold' and `daring' MTV Style. What's in it, apart from the brand? To start with, let's take what they say at face value: fabric, technique and silhouette. Alternatively, you could slip into those clothes and figure out exactly what is different.

This Spring Summer Collection 2001 is also hip, trendy and er... easy on the pocket. Actually, yes. The clothes are priced between Rs. 295 and Rs. 995, available at Chennai, besides Mumbai, Calcutta, Bangalore, Delhi, Punjab, Simla, Gujarat, Baroda, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Vishakapatnam.
