DMK rally

PONDICHERRY, AUG. 6. Volunteers, legislators and representatives of different wings of the DMK took out a rally here today to protest the `atrocious and inhuman manner' in which the party chief, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, was arrested on June 29.

The rally, which started from the Anna statue in Odiansalai, passed through important thoroughfares and ended at the Bharathi park.

The DMK legislature party leader, Mr. R. V. Janakiraman, the vice-president, Mr. C. P. Tirunavukarasu, MP, the party legislators and former MLAs were among those who participated in the rally.

The participants staged a demonstration in Bharathi park.

In Cuddalore, hundreds of DMK volunteers and workers of allied parties, led by the DMK district secretary and Kurunjipadi MLA, Mr. M. R. K. Pannerselvam, took out a procession from the Registrar's Office to the Collectorate.
