Girl ends life in hostel room
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, AUG. 6 The alleged suicide of a 19-year-old girl shook
the City's Mount Carmel College hostel inmates here on Monday
morning. The body of S.R. Pragnya, a pre-university PCMB student,
was found hanging by a dupatta in her hostel room.
According to police, a suicide note spoke of a relationship
turned sour. However, it also carried the statement that nobody
was responsible for her death.
At about 10 a.m., Pragnya reportedly told her friends that she
was feeling sleepy and would come to class later. But, when she
was not seen even after two hours, her friends went back to her
room, only to find her body.
Taking up a case of unnatural death, the High Grounds police
questioned Pragnya's classmates and college teachers. The body
was shifted to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem and later handed
over to the relatives.
Police said Pragnya was the daughter of Mr. Ramachandran of
Shantahalli in Somwarpet in Kodagu. They alerted her local
guardian, Mr. Ravikumar from Sadashivanagar, and her other
relatives.
Stunned by news of the suicide, the hostel inmates were seen
sobbing and consoling each other. Classes were suspended for the
afternoon and students asked to clear out of the campus at the
earliest.
