Thief's pocket picked
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, AUG. 6. In a twist of fortunes, a burglar was caught by
local residents at Arumbakkam last week, but one of the local
thieves took away some stolen cash and a wristwatch from the
culprit himself.
According to police, a burglar who noticed the house-owner
coming, hid himself below the cot. However, the owner saw the
intruder and raised an alarm. A crowd gathered and had the
burglar caught. When police arrived and took `custody' of the
accused, they could not find all the stolen articles which the
culprit hid in his pocket. The burglar informed the police that
one of those who came to catch him had picked his pocket. He had
seen the person who took away the stolen wristwatch and some cash
from his pocket. The burglar informed the police that he could
identify the culprit.
A series of burglaries were also reported in Peravallore area
during the last couple of days.
