Centre, J&K Govt. responsible for Doda killings: VHP

NEW DELHI, AUG. 6. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today held the Central and the Jammu and Kashmir Governments ``fully responsible'' for the Doda killings and gave the Union Home Minister, Mr. L.K. Advani, `two- weeks' time to act strongly, failing which it would reconsider its ties with the Government. The VHP and Bajrang Dal demanded dismissal of the Farooq Abdullah Government, accusing it of providing shelter to militants and favoured a free hand to the security forces to stamp out militancy.

``We do not blame Pakistan for whatever is happening in Jammu and Kashmir, because it has openly threatened to step up militancy after the failure of the Agra summit. But if our Government still did not make adequate security arrangements, it is at fault,'' the VHP president, Mr. V.H. Dalmiya, told reporters.

Referring to Mr. Advani's statement on Sunday in Aligarh on crushing militancy, he said ``statements won't satisfy people and the VHP.'' He warned that if there was no ``strong action'' by the Home Minister maximum by two weeks, the VHP would reconsider its ties with the Government. Asked whether the VHP would seek Mr. Advani's resignation, he said the organisation would consider it after two weeks.

The Bajrang Dal convenor, Mr. Surendra Jain, said unless the Farooq Abdullah Government is dismissed, terrorism will not end.
