M.P. Govt. to be firm against SIMI
JABALPUR, AUG. 5. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Digvijay
Singh, today said the State Government would take stringent
action against Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and
Bajrang Dal if they were found involved in anti-national
activities in the State.
``The government would take strict measures against them and
would not fail in its duty to ban these organisations,'' Mr.
Singh said while speaking informally to the reporters here.
Mr. Singh said he was completely in favour of winding up the
State Administrative Tribunal (SAT). However, regarding the
dismissed SAT employees, he said that their cases would be
reviewed and due action would be taken to absorb them in the
services.
Condemning the murderous attack on the Congress MLA, Mr. Manak
Agrawal by another Legislator, the Chief Minister said the
Congress president would take the decision of replacing the
present state party chief if he was found involved in the
conspiracy.

said they were being installed to minimise the pilferage and
power thefts. - PTI
U.P. Govt. against ban
PTI reports from Aligarh
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh today said he
was not in favour of banning the SIMI but believed in dealing
firmly with anti-national and anti-social elements.
Speaking at a function here, he said banning an organisation was
no solution. ``What matters is the constant vigil and firm action
against those indulging in anti-national and anti-social
activities,'' he added.
Complimenting the Kanpur police for timely and strict action in
unearthing designs of anti-national forces to disrupt peace on
the Independence Day, he said the arrest of two alleged SIMI
activists was a major breakthrough.
``The government,'' Mr. Singh said, ``was committed to maintain
law and order and communal amity in the State and would deal with
iron hands the disruptive elements which were out to disturb
peace in the State.''
