Jayalalithaa for New Delhi

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, AUG. 5. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa, will leave for New Delhi on Tuesday to meet the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Mr. K.C. Pant.

During the meeting she will discuss the Plan allocation for Tamil Nadu, according to official sources.

She will also meet the CPI (M) general secretary, Mr. Harkishen Singh Surjeet, and other leaders of the People's Front. These meetings assume significance in the context of the State Government's efforts to drum up support for taking on the Centre on the issue of the ``politically-motivated'' transfer of IPS officers from Tamil Nadu to New Delhi.
