Concern over mosque demolition

NEW DELHI, AUG 2. The CPI(M) members in the Lok Sabha today voiced serious concern over the demolition of a mosque in Rajasthan and said no one had been taken into custody so far in this connection. Raising the issue during the zero hour, Mr. Suresh Prabhu, demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident and a statement from the Centre. He was supported by several party colleagues.

The Congress member, Mr. Girija Vyas, however, said the mosque had been reconstructed and the status quo restored.

`Madrassas targeted'

Claiming that authorities were targeting Madrassas, Mr. G.M. Banatwala (Muslim League) demanded that the Government table in the House evidence on Madrassas. The report against Madrassas spoke the language of the Sangh Parivar.
