Bajaj lines up two more motorcycle models
By Our Corporate Reporter
CHENNAI, JULY 30. Bajaj is keen to expand the motorcycle segment
by launching two more models, Croma and Aspire, in the next four
weeks, said Mr. R. L. Ravichandran, vice-present, at a press
conference here today. Together with the existing Kawasaki Bajaj
Caliber and the Boxer AT, the company is uniquely placed to offer
six distinctive bikes models, he said.
The immediate focus would be to grab sales from the entire
motorcycle segment and the Aspire and Croma would be the key
contributors to the enhanced volumes projected.
The company had seen a 65 per cent growth in the motor cycle
segment with sales touching 4.20 lakh units last year. To
reinforce this segment, the company had planned to reach over six
lakh motor cycle sales in the current year by introducing more
models. A whole lot of research and development had gone in to
make the new models a success, Mr. Ravichandran said.
The Aspire, a high performance 111.6cc engine provides on-road
fuel economy of 65 kmpl. It was developed in association with $10
billion Kawasaki Heavy Industries of Japan. It is priced at Rs.
40,475. New Caliber Croma is powered by 111.6 cc, 4-stroke engine
and has a fuel-efficiency of 65 kmpl. It is priced at Rs. 42,100
(ex-showroom, Chennai).
The Aspire model, to be launched in Tamil Nadu, comes with
Italian designed Brembo-KBX front disc breaks. The Croma will be
on the road next month.
