Jayalalithaa yet to draw salary
By Radha Venkatesan
CHENNAI, JULY 30. The Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa, who was
on ``one-rupee'' monthly pay during her previous tenure, this
time, it appears, has decided to ``serve'' without salary.
Even two and a half months after she assumed office,
Ms.Jayalalithaa is yet to pick up her pay packet.
Sources in the Treasuries and Accounts department confirm that
the Chief Minister till date has not drawn her salary for May and
June.
Nor has she submitted any bill for availing herself of
allowances.
The Pay and Accounts Office at the Secretariat on May 29 issued a
pay slip for Rs. 10,000-Rs 7,000 as officiating pay and a
compensatory allowance of Rs 3,000- and this was forwarded again
in June as well.
But the Chief Minister has not collected her salary yet.
However, all 24 Ministers in the Cabinet have drawn their pay for
the past two months.
