The week ahead
PREPARE for the full moon on Saturday by focussing on the ways
you can internally improve yourself. You may often think about
improving the outside world. Use the internal energy fuelled by
Neptune this week to concentrate on fine adjustments within
yourself.
This could include letting go of an old attitude, breaking a bad
habit, practising positive thinking or expressing unconditional
love.

Queries answered
What is Pithru Sapam? Why does it affect generations? Are there
simple remedies for it?
- P. S. V. Raman, Salem.
ONE foremost duty of householders is paying respectful homage to
three generations of ancestors. Debilitated Sun (who is
Pithrukaraka) without Neechabhanga, or the Sun otherwise weak in
a horoscope, indicates the displeasure of neglected ancestors.
Disregarding Srarddha Karma, violating Vedic precepts of good
conduct, and offending Kula Sampradaya, are sure to invite the
grievous curse of Pithru Saapam. Remedying that neglect
forthwith, reciting "Aditya Hridayam" on Sundays, donating wheat
and dakshina to Brahmins after appropriate "sankalpa" for 12
consecutive Sundays, will provide mitigation.
