Tributes to Sivaji Ganesan

BANGALORE, JULY 28. The noted Kannada actress, Ms. B.Saroja Devi, on Friday urged the Centre to confer the Bharat Ratna posthumously on the Tamil thespian Sivaji Ganesan.

Speaking at a condolence meeting organised by the Sivaji Ganesan Abhimanigala Balaga here, Ms. Saroja Devi said Ganesan was an actor par excellence and his death was an irreparable loss to the film industry. He had brought life into every character that he had portrayed, and he had guided the performance of each artiste.

Also present on the occasion was actress Jayanthi, who said that she was yet to reconcile to Ganesan's demise.

Mr. M.Muniswamy, MLA, and the former Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams Trustee, Mr. A.Radhakrishna Raju, said that Bharat Ratna should be conferred on Sivaji Ganesan posthumously.

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President, Mr. K.C.N.Chandrashekar, the legislators, Mr. M.Muniswamy and Mr. Dinesh Gundu Rao, and the former legislator, Mr. B.Muniyappa, were present.
