By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, JULY 25.

The Delhi Chief Minister, Ms. Sheila Dikshit, was today discharged from Escorts Heart and Research Institute here where she had undergone a heart by-pass surgery on July 16.

Doctors attending on her said she had recovered very well from the surgery but advised her not to strain herself during the next fortnight at least. Visitors have been asked to avoid meeting Ms. Dikshit for a few days to guard against any infection. The Chief Minister, along with her family members, left the hospital around 10 a.m. and reached home where she was received by a number of party MLAs who wished her speedy recovery.

Before leaving the hospital, the Chief Minister inaugurated the new Heart Command Centre at the Escorts Hospital. The fully equipped new centre would provide an on the spot diagnosis for patients of myocardinal infraction and to institute treatment within 15 minutes of the patient's arrival in the hospital. The Centre is also backed up by a fleet of mobile CCU vans to transport critically ill patients to the hospital for early detection and intervention and will have a 1:1 patient nurse ratio round the clock to keep an eye on all critical parameters backed by 24-hour team of highly-skilled cardiologists, anesthetists and surgeons.

Ms. Dikshit hoped the Heart Command Centre at would provide acute care par excellence for patients of heart attack and strokes. She said the latest technology at the Centre would be a ray of hope for patients with failing heart, who have been denied any alternate mode of therapy.
