GURGAON, JULY 25. In an endeavour to provide a platform to the boxing fraternity, the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) on Tuesday launched a quarterly magazine `The Boxer - the voice of Indian boxing'.

The magazine, a first for the sport, joins the list of a select few discipline-centric periodicals in the country.

The IABF, through this magazine plans to compile history of boxing, and give latest news about Indian's performance in the national and international events.

The magazine would be circulated all over the country through the state units, affiliates, boards and institutions, said Mr. R. S. Dalal, Working President of the IABF. ``We plan to circulate the magazine internationally through affiliates of the Asian and the world amateur boxing federations,'' he said.

`The Boxer' was released by the President of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), Mr. Ajay Singh Chautala, who deputised for his brother, Mr. Abhey Singh Chautala, the IABF President.

Mr. Abhey Chautala had to rush to Kurukshetra where nine people were electrocuted and four others injured when a bus they were travelling in, came in contact with a live electricity wire.

Mr. Asit Banerjee, the editor of the magazine, said that in the near future `The Boxer' would be made a monthly.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Chautala said that in an effort to give boost to sports, the Haryana government has decided to allot 80 acre of land in Rewari to the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Training facilities for various disciplines would be made available on the lines of NIS, he said.
