Hooper hits century; Zimbabwe fights back
BULAWAYO, JULY 21. Zimbabwe, facing a massive first innings
deficit of 404, was 112 for no loss in its second innings at
close of play on the third day of the first Test against the West
Indies here on Saturday. D. Ebrahim and Alistair Campbell were
batting on 51 and 58 respectively.
Earlier, the visitors piled on 559 for six declared with skipper
Carl Hooper scoring 149 (211b, 18 x 4, 1 x 6). Resuming at 393
for three, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Hooper carried the score to 420
when the former was dismissed for 58.
Hooper and Marlon Samuels then added 100 runs for the fifth
wicket before Samuels went for 42. For Zimbabwe, Streak, Strang
and Price shared the spoils equally.
