BJP hits out at Musharraf

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JULY 21. The Bharatiya Janata Party today accused the Pakistan President, Gen. Musharraf, of ``adding bitterness'' and called him the ``biggest hawk'', while stressing on the need to continue with talks between the two countries.

Commenting on Gen. Musharraf's press conference last night, the senior BJP leader, Mr. J.P. Mathur, asserted the Pakistan President had said ``nothing new except adding bitterness'' and charged that in fact the `Khot' (dishonesty) referred to by Gen. Musharraf was on Pakistan's side which was supporting the proxy- war against India.

The BJP leader said Gen. Musharraf was not speaking the truth when he described proxy war unleashed by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir as `freedom struggle'. Mr. Mathur said non- Pakistanis were indulging in terrorist acts in the State and carrying on their nefarious activities through funds generated by narcotics trade.

However, the BJP leader said there may be anti- national elements in the country like the Hurriyat conference, but there were no local insurgents in Jammu and Kashmir now.
