Dambulla scrapped as venue
By Our Special Correspondent
COLOMBO, JULY 19. The three one-day Internationals of the Coca
Cola triangular competition scheduled in Dambulla's ultra-modern
cricket facility will now be staged as day matches at the
Premadasa Stadium.
The matches are: Sri Lanka vs New Zealand on July 25, India vs
New Zealand, July 26 and Sri Lanka vs India, July 28.
According to Mr. Anura Tenekkon, interim chief executive officer,
Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL), here, on
Thursday, a dispute over payment to the contractors of the
stadium led to this development.
The former Sri Lankan captain revealed the contractors had
threatened to go to court and get the matches stayed, and, as a
precautionary measure, the BCCSL had to change the venue.
