CM gets engineering admission for 3 students
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, JULY 15. The Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa, has
enabled three deserving candidates including two girls, to secure
admission to engineering courses in the Anna University this
year, under the special discretionary quota.
These candidates include Mr. Selvan Yuvaraj, whose mother Ms.
Shakuntala, had petitioned the Chief Minister for an engineering
seat in view of her poor financial position.
Considering the marks the student had obtained in the school-
leaving examination, Selvan has been granted admission in B.E.
(Electronics and Communication Engineering) under the ``free seat
category'', an official release here today said.
The other two girls who have got admission in the B.E. (Computer
Science) course are Ms. Arathi of Madurai, who was the only
Indian to participate in a world-level essay competition in the
U.S, and Ms. Sasikala, who stood first in the State in the tenth
class examination in 1999.
All the three students got their admission letters when they
called on Ms. Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence yesterday
along with their parents to thank the Chief Minister.
