12 intruders among 18 killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, JULY 15. As India and Pakistan were engaged in the summit level dialogue, hostilities along the Line of Control (LoC) continued with 12 intruders killed by security forces and Pakistani Rangers opening fire injuring two in Jammu division since last night.

Elsewhere in the valley, four militants and a policeman were among six persons killed in separate incidents, while militants ambushed an Army convoy injuring a jawan. Pakistani Rangers resorted to indiscriminate firing in Akhnoor sector in Jammu division injuring a man and his daughter.

A defence spokesman said Army personnel shot dead five armed militants in Baramulla district. Four more Pakistani intruders were killed by Army in Kupwara district.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition including eight AK assault rifles, a pistol, an under-barrel grenade launcher, 17 RPG rockets, 30 grenades and a wireless set were recovered.
