Indian lads have a tough time

NEW DELHI, JULY 13. The Indian players continued to struggle in the US, as three of them lost first round of singles in the $10,000 ITF Futures tennis tournament in Peoria, Illinois.

National champion Mustafa Ghouse lost 4-6, 2-6 to the seventh- seeded Sebastian Fitz of Germany. Manoj Mahadevan went down fighting 3-6, 7-5, 1-6 to the fifth seed Ignacio Gonzalez- King of Argentina while Rishi Sridhar lost tamely at 2-6, 0-6 to Ruben De Kleijn of the Netherlands.

In doubles, Mustafa Ghouse was seeded third with Adriano Biasella of Italy and the duo beat wild card entrants Matt Maris and Steve McRaven of the US 6-1, 6-2 in the pre- quarterfinals.

However, the fourth-seeded Manoj and Rishi lost after a bright start, 6-0, 3-6, 6-7 (5-7) to Ignacio Gonzalez-King and Pablo Gonzalez-King of Argentina.
