Parminder to lead
VISAKHAPATNAM, JULY 13. Parminder Singh will lead the Indian team
in the 21st Asian Basketball Confederation men's championship to
be held in Shanghai (China) later this month.
The 12-member Indian team was announced here on Friday after the
conclusion of the third camp for the probables. The team was
selected by Mr. Harish Sharma, secretary general of the
Basketball Federation of India, Mr. G.M. Sampath Kumar, chairman
technical commission BFI, and Mr. K.K. Chansoria, chief coach of
the camp.
Mr. Chansoria said that the team was selected on the basis of
performances in the three camps (the first was held in New Delhi
and the other two here) and the SAARC championship. Seventeen
players attended the camp and 13, including a standby were
shortlisted for the trip to Shanghai.
The team: Parminder Singh (captain), M.S. Shabeer Ahmed,
Robinson, S. Sridhar, Gopinath, Ranjit Singh, Des Raj, S. Vinay
Kumar, Murlimohan, Suresh Ranot, B.J. Jadeja and Mohit Bhandari.
Austin Almia (standby). Mr. K.K. Chansoria (chief coach), Mr. P.
Ramar (coach), Mr. K. Govindaraj (manager), Mr. Naresh Chandra
Aneja (referee).
