Mahajan discusses agenda for monsoon session

NEW DELHI, JULY 13. The Union Minister for Information and
Technology and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Pramod Mahajan, today
discussed with Secretaries and senior officials of various
departments the business to be taken up during the monsoon
session of Parliament starting from July 23.
After the meeting, it was indicated that a resolution for
Parliament approval for imposition of President's rule in Manipur
would be brought before both the Houses before August 2.
Priority would also be accorded for consideration, discussion and
voting on the Supplementary Demands for Grants (General) for
2001-2002 and the Demand for Excess Grant (General) for 1998-99.
Important bills likely to be taken up during the session which is
likely to end on August 31 were identified. The session may have
a total of 29 sittings.
The bills include the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers'
Rights Bill, 2001, the Livestock Importation (Amendment) Bill
2001 (to replace the Ordinance).
