T.N. Congress dissidents in Delhi

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JULY 10. A large contingent of Tamil Nadu Congress leaders led by the former Union Ministers, Mr. R. Anbarasu and Mr. M. Arunachalam, are in Delhi to press for the removal of the TNCC chief, Mr. Elangovan. The same group had similarly campaigned in April - prior to the Assembly elections - but the AICC leadership refused to concede their demand. The dissidents today called on AICC general secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad, and the CWC members, Mr. Oscar Fernandes and Ms. Ambika Soni.

The dissidents have prepared a four-page memorandum to be handed over to the CWC members and the Congress president, Ms. Sonia Gandhi, as well when they meet her in the next two days. Some of the charges made in the memorandum are that under Mr. Elangovan, the TNCC has witnessed an exodus. Also he allegedly failed to keep the TNCC factions and take all the groups along, says a senior leader of the dissident group. The dissidents also say that Mr. Elangovan is at fault for the deteriorating relations between the AIADMK and the Congress after the Assembly elections.
