Paswan to apprise PM of Laloo's threat
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, JULY 7. The Union Communication Minister and the Lok
Janshakti president, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, has taken serious
exception to the threat held out by Rashtriya Janata Dal chief,
Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav, that the Union Ministers from Bihar would
now meet the same fate as their colleagues from Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Paswan said that he planned to meet the Prime Minister and
apprise him of the situation. ``I have already written to the
Union Home Minister and brought the issue to his notice.''
Mr. Paswan said that Mr. Yadav's threat could not be taken
lightly and there was a pattern to it. ``He has been trying to
finish me off for the last three years. Several attempts have
been made on my life in Bihar,'' said Mr. Paswan. A signature
campaign is currently under way and a delegation of his party
leaders would call on the Prime Minister.
Mr. Paswan targeted the BSP leadership, his main rivals for the
Dalit vote-bank in Uttar Pradesh. He accused Mr. Kanshi Ram and
Ms. Mayawati of having done precious little except ``shedding
crocodile tears'' for the Dalits.
Welcoming the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. Rajnath Singh's
decision to earmark a sub quota for the most backward castes in
the State, Mr. Paswan said his party would contest the next
Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh along with the NDA.
