Govt. jobs: Rajasthan gesture to women
By Our Staff Correspondent
JAIPUR, JULY 3. In a significant decision aimed at benefiting
women belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other
Backward Classes (OBCs), the Rajasthan Government has revised the
public service rules to provide 10 years' relaxation to them in
the age limit for entry into the services.
The State Government has issued several notifications amending
the service rules for the purpose. While the maximum age for the
SC, ST and OBC women for entering the State services will
henceforth be 43 years, the benefit of five years' relaxation has
been extended to the women of the general category and the SC, ST
and OBC men.
Official sources said today that the relaxation in maximum age
for various categories would be available for 87 State services.
The new rules will be known as the Rajasthan Miscellaneous
Service Amendment Rules, 2001.
The upper age limit for general candidates for all services - for
which recruitments are made by the Rajasthan Public Service
Commission (RPSC) and various Government departments - continues
to be 33 years. The revised rules have been enforced with
immediate effect.
The amendments will be applicable to the Rajasthan Engineering
Service Rules, 1954; Rajasthan Factory and Boiler Inspector
Service Rules, 1958; Rajasthan Motor Garage Service Rules, 1958;
Rajasthan Prison Service Rules, 1959; Rajasthan Cooperative
Service Rules, 1954; Rajasthan Agricultural Service Rules, 1960;
Rajasthan Forest Service Rules, 1962; and Rajasthan Subordinate
Services (Appointment and Service Conditions) Rules, 2001.
The services to which the new rules will be applicable also
include labour welfare, statistical service, employment, mines
and geology, industries, Government press, archaeology and
museums, medical and health, animal husbandry, social welfare,
public relations, technical education, tourism, sheep and wool,
and agricultural marketing.
