Asia-Pacific enterprises summit in Aug.

BANGALORE, JUNE 30. The Government of Karnataka, in association
with the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and
Industry (FKCCI), is organising a summit here for enterprises in
the Asia-Pacific region from August 12 to 14.
The Minister for Large- and Medium-scale Industries, Mr. R.V.
Deshpande told presspersons today that the summit would focus on
promoting investments, trade, technology transfer, joint
ventures, etc. About 350 delegates, including over 100 from
overseas, were expected to participate in the summit.
The FKCCI President, Mr. K. Ramaswamy, said the international
partner organisations for the summit included the Indian Chamber
of Commerce and Industry, Hong Kong; Malaysia Associated Indian
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kuala Lumpur; Selangor KL
Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Indian Chamber of
Commerce, Japan; Indian Merchants' Association, South Korea;
Myanmar India Business Club; Singapore Federation of Chambers of
Commerce and Industry; Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and
Industry; Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; ASEAN
Chamber of Commerce and Industry; SAARC Chamber of Commerce and
Industry and Australia India Business Association, Melbourne.
Mr. Deshpande said that the region was home to almost 3.5 billion
people. There were countries with a per capita GDP ranging from
$1,050 to over $20,000 and this character of the market could be
used to promote high-end as well as low-end products.
