By the sea shore

Set on a ten-acre site in the village of Muttukadu overlooking the Bay of Bengal, Dakshin Chitra comprises four sections, which represent the distinct culture of the southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Heritage education at Dakshin Chitra is designed to provide a meaningful learning experience set in an aesthetic and sensitive ambience. Dakshin Chitra has put together workshops and other activities, which are of great interest to children.

Workshop on Wind

July 2, 4, 5 and 6

August 27, 29, 30, and 31.

Activities related to wind:Science experiments, music and dance, kite making and flying would be part of the day's activities.

Fee:Rs. 50

Time 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Workshop for Special children

(Hearing impaired)

Pottery - July 2, 9, 23 and 30.

Folk dance - August 6, 13, 20 and 27

Fee: Rs. 40.

Time: 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. (session 1)

2.30p.m. to 4.30 p.m. (session 2)

Children can take part in any one session.

Workshop on Water

Sept: 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28.

Oct: 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19.

Fee: Rs. 50.

Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Workshop for Special children

(visually challenged)

Music -(vocal) - Sept: 3, 10, 17 and 24.

Music (instrument) - Oct: 1, 8, 22, 29

Fee: Rs.30

Time: 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Children's Mela from July 9 to August 10 (except on Sundays and Tuesdays).

Fee: Rs. 50.

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
