Nishad case: human rights panel urged to intervene
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JUNE 30. The KSU activist, Mr. A. Nishad, who
was allegedly manhandled by a group of SFI activists at the
University College in November last year, has appealed to the
State Human Rights Commission to take action against the
"injustice" meted out to him by the Kerala University
authorities.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr. Nishad, who was
the general secretary of the Nilamel NSS College Union, said he
had not received the marklist of the B.A. (History) examination
conducted this year. At the same time, Rajesh, the prime accused
in the case, and studying for B.Sc. (Biochemistry) in the same
college, had received the marklist, he alleged.
Mr. Nishad alleged that the university authorities were adopting
an "irresponsible" attitude towards the issue. Though the
principal of the Nilamel NSS College had forwarded the
application for condonation of attendance for Nishad and Rajesh
in the same form, he said the university authorities had not
issued his marklist stating that they had not received his
application. This was when the principal had received an
acknowledgement for receipt of the application from the
university, he alleged.
Mr. Nishad also appealed to the Human Rights Commission to issue
orders for reopening the admission procedure for the P. G course
so as to enable him to get admission for the same.
