Novellus opens support office in Bangalore

BANGALORE, JUNE 28. Novellus Systems Inc., of the U.S., a leader in advanced deposition and surface preparation processes for the semi-conductor industry, has opened a software development and support office in Bangalore. It is the company's only software centre outside the U.S. and it will provide software development, test and service for its global customers.

Mr. Jeffrey C. Benzing, Executive Vice-President, Novellus Systems, told presspersons: ``The new facility will helps us cut cycle time and develop new systems software for Novellus' industry-leading thin film equipment. This new capability will also allow us to expand our customer-satisfaction programme by provding real-time software support to our customers around the globe.''

With the opening of the Bangalore facility, the company becomes global and the City was chosen because of the notable software talent available here and the growing technology infrastructure in India, Mr Ashok Belle, Managing Director, Novellus Systems India, said.

Founded in 1984, the company is listed on NASDAQ and has FY 2000 revenues of $ 1.2 billion.
