Govt. decision unfortunate, says Hurriyat
NEW DELHI, JUNE 28. Terming as ``unfortunate'' the reported stand
of the Government against the Pakistani President, Gen. Pervez
Musharraf, meeting the Hurriyat Conference leaders on the
sidelines of his coming summit, the 23-party conglomerate has
called an emergency meeting of its executive committee next week
to discuss its future course of action.
The Government's decision was a setback to the process of finding
a solution to the Kashmir dispute, the Hurriyat Conference
spokesman, Mr. Abdul Majeed Bandey, said. ``We took a decision to
provide an opportunity to both, Islamabad and New Delhi, by
seeking a meeting with Gen. Pervez Musharraf and the Prime
Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, before or after the
summit.''
