By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, JUNE 23. The Congress party today finalised its
Pradesh Congress Committees for Punjab and Maharashtra, under
Capt. Amarinder Singh and Mr. Govindrao Adik respectively, while
setting up a coordination committee in Punjab where Assembly
polls are due next February.
The 12-member coordination committee is headed by Mr. Motilal
Vora, the party treasurer who is incharge of party affairs in the
State. It includes the AICC general secretary, Ms. Ambika Soni,
the PCC chief, former State Chief Minister, Ms. Rajinder Kaur
Bhattal, MPs, Mr. Jagmeet Singh Brar, Mr. Shamsher Singh Dullo,
Ms. Santosh Choudhary and Mr. R.L. Bhatia among others.
Mr. Vora, told The Hindu, the main thrust of the committee was to
draw up strategy and prepare the party for the Assembly polls. He
said the committee would also consult senior leaders to ensure
proper coordination at all levels and discipline is maintained.
The PPCC chief, Capt. Amarinder Singh, has been facing dissidence
from two prominent factions led by Ms. Bhattal and Mr. Jagmeet

to accommodate various factions. The executive has 10 vice-
presidents, 13 general secretaries, 24 secretaries and 30 members
in the executive. All former Chief Ministers, MPs, former PCC
chiefs, and heads of frontal organisations have been made special
invitees. In addition, 21 district Congress chiefs have been
appointed while 51 others including Ms. Babli Brar, daughter of
former Chief Minister, Mr. Harcharan Singh Brar, have been co-
opted.
In Maharashtra, by retaining Mr. Adik the party has put an end to
demand from some quarters for his replacement. The 89-strong PCC
includes, nine vice-presidents, 11 general secretaries, 15
secretaries, 15 joint secretaries and 38 executive members. Mr.
Vijay Kalantri would be the party treasurer and the PCC will have
the Chief Minister, Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh, former Chief
Ministers, MPs, former MPs, PCC chiefs, former Union Ministers
and heads of frontal organisations as special invitees.
Mr. Murli Deora has been made a vice-president while Mr. Annant
