Another case filed against Ranganathan

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, JUNE 18. A new complaint against the TMC Democratic Forum MLA, Mr. B. Ranganathan, with allegations of criminal intimidation, trespass and illegal detention, has been filed in a city metropolitan court.

The Sembium police have been directed to investigate and report to the court. Mr. Ranganathan is in judicial custody since May 30 in connection with a case, wherein he was accused of threatening a Kilpauk-based businessman with a revolver demanding election funds. Since then three new cases have been registered against him.

In the present complaint, one Mr. C. Thirumoorthy of Anbazhagan Nagar has alleged that four persons, including the Purasawalkam MLA, attempted to dispossess him of his house in lieu of a loan he had obtained from the first accused, Mr. Ravichandran of Perambur, in 1998.

He had alleged that he along with his wife were abducted and kept in illegal detention for over 10 days, as the accused persons wanted them to repay the remaining loan amount and execute property documents in their favour.
