Paswan launches yatra for two rights
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI, JUNE 12.
The Union Communication Minister and Lok Janshakti Party
president, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, said today his party was
committed to get ``Right to Education and Right to Work''
included as Fundamental Rights in the Constitution and voiced the
demand to provide free education to all children below 14 year of
age.
Mr. Paswan was addressing party workers at the party headquarters
at Ferozeshah Road before flagging off the ``Parivaratan Rath''
launched to expose the misdeeds of the corrupt and inefficient
Congress(I) Government in Delhi. The rath yatra would bring into
focus the various problems being faced by the residents of the
Capital. Also present on the occasion were the Chairman of the
Parliamentary Board, Capt. Jai Narain Prasad Nishad, and the Lok
Janshakti Party vice-president, Mr.Ramvir Singh Bidhuri. The Rath
would go to all the blocks and districts in the city and apprise
the people about the failure of the Delhi Government on all
fronts.
Mr. Paswan said his party was committed to providing medical
facilities at every village and panchayat. Not only this, his
party would also work towards increasing the limit for housing
loans under the Indira Avas Yojna and said rural development was
the priority of his party.
Presenting a 15-point charter of demands, Mr. Bidhuri charged the
Delhi Government with having failed to fulfill the promises made
in the election manifesto. Demanding that the industries should
not be dislocated till alternate land were provided. Mr. Bidhuri
said the same rule should be applied to the slums which should
only be demolished after proper relocation plans had been drawn
up.
Accusing the Delhi Government of taking the farmers for a ride,
Mr.Bidhuri demanded that the land compensation rate should be
enhanced to Rs. 50 lakh per acre and it should be applicable from
the date the government came to power. At the same time, surplus
land should be distributed among the landless and a time frame be
set for holding panchayat polls. The issue of alternative fuel,
including Ultra Low Sulphur diesel should be explored along with
CNG fuel.
He said the Rath Yatra, to be led by the Delhi unit president,
Mr. Lalit Kumar Gautam, would go to all the 134 municipal wards
of Delhi. He said if the Delhi Government failed to fulfill the
demands raised by the Lok Janshakti Party, it would be
constrained to gherao the Players Building at ITO, the seat of
power of the Delhi Government.
