HM launches RTV in Maharashtra

MUMBAI, JUNE 12. Hindustan Motors (HM) formally launched its all road trusted vehicle (RTV) model in Maharashtra today, after successfully launching it in Delhi.

The RTV was launched a couple of months ago and the CNG variant has been well received in the market where it was launched resulting in the sale of around 750 RTVs since its launch in January this year. Following the success of the product, the company is planning to increase the production capacity for the RTV at the Pithampur plant near Indore to 750 units a month from 500 units.

Besides the RTV, the Pithampur plant, which has a turnover of Rs. 200 crores, produces Mitsubishi Lancer power units and diesel / petrol engines and transmission based on Isuzu technology.

According to Mr. B. K. Chaturvedi, executive director, HM, ``The launch of the RTV in Maharashtra comes after the tremendous response received by the product in Delhi.

In Mumbai, the company is offering the CNG powered version of the vehicle with the diesel version also on offer. The CNG RTV will be available in Mumbai at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 4.94 lakhs. The factory fitted school bus will be available at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 5.04 lakhs.

The RTV was originally introduced as a diesel engine-powered rural transport vehicle but is positioned by the company as its all road trusted vehicle capable of servicing metros as well. The RTV prototype was developed with OKA Motors of Australia. Accordingly, the vehicle is also being positioned in the market as a point-to-point people carrier, school bus, ambulance and delivery van.
