Woven wonders
IT'S TIME to traverse the cotton citadels of the country - all
under one roof. At Taruni Laya, Kences Towers, North Usman Road,
that is.Kanchi, Bengal, Orissa, Narayanapet, Mangalgiri,
Venkatagiri, Gadwal... the range of cotton saris is impressive.
The ongoing Cotton Utsav at the showroom also presents a wide
range of fancy varieties besides the typically traditional ones.
The palette is rich - from subtle off-whites to rich maroons and
deep blues. The collection also comprises Kota, Kalamkari,
Jaipur, batik, jute and Bomkai cottons. For those shopping for
nine-yards saris, Taruni Laya is an ideal destination.
There is a lot on the silk front too. Vaitani, Tussar, Orissa,
Puttapaka, Gadwal, Kanchipuram... there is plenty to choose
from. The range does not stop with saris. There are coordinated
dress materials in a variety of fabrics and colours, fancy blouse
materials and also the traditional pavadai-blouse sets for
children. Tailoring and embroidery work are also undertaken.
Thinking of cool couture with cooler prices? Check out the range
that starts at Rs. 250.
