Traffic regulation for Meelad procession

CHENNAI, JUNE 3. Arrangements have been made to regulate traffic on June 5 in view of the Meelad-Un-Nabi procession.

The procession will start from Angappan Naicken Street at around 2 p.m. and go through Mookar Nallamuthu Street, Moor Street, Erabalu Chetty Street, Rajaji Salai, North Fort Side Road, Muthuswamy Salai, North Flag Staff Road, War Memorial and Kamarajar Salai, before culminating at Seerani Arangam.

Motorists have been requested to avoid the route after noon.

Processionists in vehicles from north Chennai will be allowed near the Old Collectorate building. For those from the south, it will be near Raja Annamalai Mandram, and on Prakasam Salai for the vehicles coming from central Chennai.

To reach Central, motorists from north Chennai will have to take Ibrahim Salai, Old Jail Road, Basin Bridge Road and Waltax Road.

The north-bound vehicles from south Chennai will have to take Pallavan Salai, Waltax Road, Basin Bridge Salai or Pallavan Salai, E.V.R.Salai and Sydemhams Road.

After the procession, vehicles will have to proceed via War Memorial and Dr.Radhakrishna Road. They will not be allowed on Avvai Shanmugam Road, Dr.Besant Road, Bharathi Salai, and Wallajah Road.

Motorists have been requested to avoid Kamarajar Salai after 3 p.m., a police release said.
