14 militants killed in J&K
SRINAGAR, JUNE 3. In yet another successful operation, the Jammu
and Kashmir police, assisted by the Army, shot dead 14 militants,
12 of them foreign mercenaries, in Poonch District even as four
persons, including a BSF jawan, were killed and five injured in
Kashmir Valley since last night, official sources said today.
In a joint operation, 10 militants, all foreign mercenaries, were
shot dead in Mandi forest area this afternoon, the sources said.
A large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the
spot.
In another operation, troops gunned down four militants belonging
to Tehreek-ul-Jehadi-Islamia in Surankote area in the district,
the sources said.
Security forces also foiled an infiltration bid by militants last
night near the Line of Control (Loc) in Mendhar area of the
district gunning down a militant, the sources said.
