Art exhibition attracts masses

PONDICHERRY, MAY 26. An art exhibition, conducted by a batch of students of the Atelier, run by Ms. Francine Callamand, an officer of the French Foreign Affairs Ministry now working in the Consulate General here, attracted a good number of admirers, at the Alliance Francaise recently.

The young artists Aroul, A. Gnanamarie, A. Mari Bruno Gnana, M. Jayaral, J. Vijayakar and V. Kumar, who had given vent to their imagination in different forms of art pieces, were grateful to Ms. Francine for the positive encouragement. She is an experienced artist.

The French official said she was impressed by the aptitude on the part of the students who had displayed their talents by bringing out the pieces. One could come across a real expression of the thought and imagination in the pieces which were on different themes.

Mr. Mohammad Moustafa, representative of the French nationals in the Superior Council of French Parliament, said the talents of the artists had really impressed upon him and the team work with which the pieces were brought out bore testimony to the bonds of affect, respect and cultural exchange during the last three years.

Those who appreciated the paintings included the new Director of the Alliance Francaise, Mr. Alain Thomas, and the chairman of the Management Committee of the institution.
