By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, MAY 26. The DSC-2001 shall be notified on May 31 with
all the details to recruit about 32,000 teachers. The appointment
letters would be issued before August 15, according to the
Minister for School Education, Mr.K.Srihari.
Talking to presspersons here on Saturday, Mr.Srihari said that
the recruitment was part of the Government's effort to ensure
total literacy by 2005.
The Government also sanctioned 7,351 primary schools where no
schools existed now and sanctioned two teachers' posts each. One
of these would be filled now while the later in future.
In all, 4,352 primary schools would be upgraded as upper primary
schools and two posts of teachers for each school would be filled
now and two more later.
Five teachers posts had been sanctioned for 1,130 high schools
each and all of those would be filled up this year. Along with
these recruitments, backlog posts and posts falling vacant after
retirement of employees numbering about 10,424 would also be
recruited this year.
Mr.Srihari said that among the schools proposed to be upgraded to
upper primary schools, 2,051 were in Telangana region, 733 in
Rayalaseema and 1,568 in coastal Andhra. Among the primary
schools to be established, 1,071 were going to be in coastal
Andhra, 951 in Rayalaseema and 4,300 in Telangana.
Mr. Srihari said that this was the first time that recruitment
and upgradations on such a large scale were being done. There was
no problem with finances as the department was getting Rs.250
crore special cess.
There was a demand for establishment of primary schools and
upgradation since long and in doing so now the needs of areas
hitherto ignored were being catered to.
