New ONGC chairman takes charge

NEW DELHI, MAY 25. Mr. Subir Raha has taken over as the Chairman-
cum-Managing Director of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
(ONGC). The earlier Chairman, Mr. B.C. Bora, retired on April 30
and the Additional Secretary, Petroleum Ministry, Mr. Naresh
Narad, has been holding additional charge since then.
With 30 years experience in the oil industry, his last post was
Director, Human Resource on the Board of Directors of the Indian
Oil Corporation (IOC), where he had been holding concurrent
charge of business development, information systems and corporate
communications since June 1998. During this period, he served as
Chairman, Indian Oil, Panipat Power Consortium Limited (IPPCL)
and the Indian Oil Petronas Limited (IPL). He was the founder-
chairman of the managing committee of Kakinada Indian Oil LNG
Consortium (KIOLC).
As the IOC Director, Mr. Raha was instrumental in formulating the
corporate vision. He initiated the transformation of the IOC from
a refining and marketing company to an integrated and diversified
oil and gas major.
