Harikrishna holds Sasikiran
MERIDA, MAY 23. International Master Pentyala Harikrishna held
Grandmaster Krishnan Sasikiran to a draw in the first of their
two-game Lausanne Young Masters quarterfinal match on Tuesday.
The second game, where Sasikiran will have the advantage of
playing white, the first move will be the decider.
All other opening game quarterfinals matches were drawn. R.
Ponomariov (Ukr) drew with Volokitin (Ukr), Xiangzhi Bu (Chn)
drew with Lazaro Bruzon (Cub), P. Harikrishna (Ind) drew with K.
Sasikiran (Ind), L. Aronian (Arm) drew with E. Bacrot (Fra).
Free day in Kazakhstan
The category 20 Super Grandmaster tournament in Kazakhstan had a
free day and the fourth round will be played on Thursday with
Garry Kasparov and Vladimir Kramnik in the lead on 2.5 points
from three games. Behind them are: 3-4 B. Gelfand (Isr), A.
Shirov (ESP) 1.5 each, 5 A. Morozevich (Rus) 1, 6 D. Sadvakasov
(Kaz) 0.
