Ramachandran's death condoled

CHENNAI, MAY. 23. The Governor, Ms. M. Fathima Beevi, the Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalitha and the DMK president, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, were among those who offered condolences on the death of the former Kerala Governor, Mr. P. Ramachandran, here today.

Ms. Fathima Beevi in her message to his son, Mr. Ravi Ram, said she was deeply grieved by the demise of his father. Describing him as a humble and very simple person, she said Mr. Ramachandran had dedicated his life for the welfare of the people. Ms. Jayalalitha in her message to Mrs. Ramachandran said the death of the veteran leader was an irreparable loss to the State.

Mr. Karunanidhi also expressed condolence to the bereaved family. The Tamil Maanila Congress president, Mr. G.K. Moopanar, said Mr. Ramachandran, an ardent follower of the late Kamaraj, had brought laurels to the State by his efficient administration as Kerala Governor and FCI Chairman. In his death the State had lost a national leader, known for integrity and loyalty.

Mr. E.V.K.S. Elangovan, TNCC(I) president, said Mr. Ramachandran had left his indelible stamp in all the posts he occupied.

The TRC president, Mr. Vazhapadi K. Ramamurthi, said Ramachandran's death was a loss to the Congress and to nationalist forces.

Dr. S. Ramadoss, PMK founder-leader, Mr. N. Sankaraiah, State secretary, CPI(M), Mr. R. Nallakannu, State secretary, CPI, Mr. Vaiko, general secretary, MDMK, Mr. S. Tirunavukarasu, general secretary, MGR ADMK, Mr. Kumari Anandan, Thondar Congress, Mr. G.A. Vadivelu, Janata Dal, State president, were among those who condoled the death of Ramachandran.

Earlier, Ms. Jayalalitha, Mr. Moopanar, Mr. Elangovan, Mr. Vazhapadi Ramamurthi, Mr. Tirunavukarasu, and Mr. Kumari Anandan placed wreaths on the body of Ramachandran.
