CPI(M) appeal to poll panel
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, MAY 15. The CPI(M) Pondicherry secretary, Mr.T.
Murugan, today urged the Election Commission to mount vigil in
future to prevent the `purchasing of votes' by parties a few days
before elections.
In a statement here, he said money was distributed among voters
in most of the constituencies on the eve of elections. The amount
given to a voter ranged from Rs.20 to Rs. 200. Strict measures
should be taken to prevent this practice.
