Speedera Networks, Wipro form alliance

CHENNAI: Speedera Networks has formed an alliance with Wipro Net, the Internet service provider arm of Wipro Corporation. The partnership signifies Speedera increasing market share in the fast paced streaming services arena with the support of Wipro Net's Internet based communication services in 32 cities. Speedera's global network reach includes points of presence in the Americas, Europe and Asia, including multiple points of presence in India's major cities, according to a release.

Zydus Cadila's pact with U. S. co.,

AHMEDABAD: Zydus Cadila has entered into a joint venture with the U. S. based Onconova Therapeutics of the U. S. a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the field of oncology (cancer research). The broad-based agreement provides for future collaboration on research, manufacturing and marketing of products. Zydus Cadila has invested $3 million in Onconova. Both companies have agreed to jointly undertake development of oncogenomics (application of genomics to the study of cancer) and genomics projects relevant to Indian conditions.

Seagate ships 15 m disc drives

CHENNAI: The shipments of 10K-rpm Cheeta disc drives by Seagate have exceeded 15 million units. These disc drives serve as the storage backbone of the Internet and also drive data-intensive applications. Time to market, exceptional performance value and field-proven reliability were the reasons for increased shipments of disc drives, according to Mr. Joel Stead, Senior Vice- President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing.

Sitagita.com to broaden portal structure

CHENNAI: Sitagita.com, a horizontal portal for woman plans to broaden its structure by launching Sitagita interactive. It plans to target all women oriented corporate sites. As part of its new initiative, the portal would create brand campaigns, connect corporate sites to Sitagita with relevant links. It would also provide CRM initiatives to its clients by creating bulk mail, providing online customer support, bring out e-news letters, provide database management and handle queries of its clients. To kick start the process, the portal has signed an agreement with the Chennai based Henkal, said Mr. Ashok Mirza, Chairman at a press conference here.

Antarix's Juzzfone voice portal

CHENNAI: Chennai can now get online information

through telephone. Antarix e Applications has launched JuzzFone, a natural dialogue voice portal that enables users to access information and content such as news, horoscopes and election results via telephone, using one's natural speech. It was built using Philips speech processing's voice recognition software, speechmania to provide the natural dialogue-interactive-voice portal. The user needs to call 820 9999, the system would then automatically interact with the user and deliver information by understanding the user's speech.

Qwiky's to serve coffee at BPCL stations

CHENNAI: Qwiky's has tied up with Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) to serve coffee at 35 petrol stations across the country. A selection of Qwicky's coffee range, which would include both the hot and the cold varieties and snacks would be available in the kiosk model. Qwiky's has made an initial investment of Rs. 8 crores in setting up the kiosks at BPCL petrol stations.

Gems and jewellery institute

CHENNAI: Sindhar Institute of Gemology, a state-of-the-art gems and jewellery institute has been set up in Kolkata. According to a release, the institute will offer a one-year full time programme. The institute will provide comprehensive theoretical and practical training in diamonds, gems and jewellery.

CCS Infotech signs MoU with Anna University

CHENNAI: The Chennai-based IT solutions provider, CCS Infotech has signed a memorandum of understanding with Anna University to become part of a `consortium of industries for the school of computer science and engineering. This one year agreement was signed between Mr. Anoop Balaraman, Director and the Registrar of Anna University.
