Morepen forms JV with Ameritek

MUMBAI, MAY 15. Morepen Labs has announced a strategic manufacturing joint venture with Ameritek of the U.S., world's largest manufacturer of rapid diagnostic assays. Morepen will manufacture Ameritek's range of products for India and all the SAARC countries except Pakistan.

A range of rapid diagnostic tests for clinical diagnosis of various diseases would be introduced under the brand name of `dBEST-Morepen' in these markets. In the initial few months, Morepen will import and test market these products.

Ameritek offers a complete range of diagnostic tests in the field of fertility and pregnancy, infectious diseases such as AIDS, Hepatitis, Dengue and many others. With USFDA manufacturing facilities located in Seattle, Washington, Ameritek offers more than 150 different diagnostic assays and enjoys international patents for many of these. These tests are proven to be reliable, sensitive, quick and highly specific for various disease conditions and disorders. This JV opens a huge potential for the rapid tests market in India, which is growing at the rate of 30 per cent per annum.

Ameritek will support manufacturing of rapid test kits in India by Morepen by providing complete technical support directly and on-line. The dBEST-Morepen products would be targeted at two different segments, clinical laboratory tests focused on private labs, nursing home and hospitals and home tests sold through retail counters and doctors.
